The old capital of Laos is a haven of tranquility, at least in the low season. More than 30 temples inside and outside the city are protected by UNESCO. The old quarter looks very french colonial and wandering around sets you back in time. Thanks to France for the yummy baguettes and coffee they left behind... ;-)
We got out of bed at 5.30 to witness the alms giving (collecting of offerings of the local monks). It is impressive how quiet, respectful and serene this daily ritual is held.
