Myanmar-Monywa

An unexpected surprise awaited us in Monywa. Passing though on our way to Mandalay, we discovered a real gem. In one single (kitsch) monastery –Thanboddhay Paya- we found over half a million Buddha statues Yes! 500 000!! Everywhere you looked,  they were looking back at you. From tall ones to tiny ones…every size was present.

The next gem in that same area was the VERY tall Buddha statue. With its 130 meter it is said to be the second tallest standing Buddha of the planet (?). Inside of it, every floor is decorated with murals and statues, some of them showing what happens to you if you don’t follow the path of Buddha. So guys, reconsider your religious orientation! LOL
