Indonesia- Bali

Our journey in Indonesia ended where it had begun: on Bali! Still nice...

Indonesia- going back to Bali

The journey from Flores to Bali takes an eternity if you chose not to fly. You have to take a ferry from Labuan Bajo to Sape (Sumbawa), there you'll jump on a van to Bima from where you take a nightbus to West coast of Sumbawa. There you'll get on another ferry to Lombok and then you take a last bus to Mataram. In the end you just have one more ferry to catch to get to Bali. All in all it takes about 34 hours over land and sea instead of a 50 minutes journey by plane. You can observe how the climate changes from very dry to flowerishing green.

diving, eating, sleeping, diving, eating, sleeping... and so on...:-P

Indonesia- From Sengiggi to Flores

The best way to explore this part of Indonesia is by boat... So even if there had been some accidents recently, we went to a 4 days boat ride from Lombok to Labuanbajo/ Flores. Our friend Isa had joined us at that point and altogether we were a bit nervous as the waves grew bigger and bigger during the night. But as usual, all ended well and we had a wonderful time on the boat. Food was great, the landscapes and sunsets as well and the snorkelling was amazing... not to mention the beaches...

On our way we also had the chance to visit Komodo National Park and Rinca Island, home of the famous and frightening Komodo Dragon...

Indonesia- climbing Mount Rinjiani

On Lombok, we still had a goal to reach! Climbing the crater of Mount Rinjiani had been on our to do list since many years. Without thinking about it for too long, we joined a tour and went for this adventure. Adventure it indeed was: the way to the top was really hard and exhausting; and very steep. After walking for 8 hours we had gone from 649m to 2700m altitude, believe it or nor: that IS very steep. Especially the last two hours were HELL! Luckily we stayed "only" at the crater lake and did not go to the very top (3700m)! During the night temperature fell to maybe 10 or 15 degrees (Celsius)... freezing if you sleep in a tent and got used to tropical temperatures!!!

Indonesia- Sengiggi/ Lombok

After having friends and family for the last two month we set our base on Lombok, in Sengiggi, to relax. Hiring a motorbike, cruising around the island and chilling on deserted beaches was all we wanted and needed to do...
