Nepal-Phokara

Situated next to the Phewa Tal (lake), Pokhara is a really idyllic and beautiful city at first view. We had mixed feeling about it because on one hand the location is quite amazing but on the other the lakeshore streets are very touristy, full of shops (Thankas, postcards, trekking gear), expensive restaurants that try to lurk you inside and taste their delicious –but overpriced- food.
A lot of foreigners get ready to start a trek from here- no wonder Annapurna and Mustang are just around the corner.
In addition to this, a World Peace Pagoda overhangs the valley of Pokhara and just opposite to it, the little village of Sarangkot offer great views to the same valley. We discovered all of this on a motorbike tour which led partially over very bumpy roads. Sometimes you see the Himalaya from these spots- unfortunately we were not there at the right time.
On our way onwards though they finally got out behind the clouds. We got a glimpse at them- at last!
