Iran- Tehran

After two plane rides (one stop in Muscat, Oman) we arrived in Tehran at last.
We were happy to meet Elmira (and her husband Mazdak) who were the perfect guides in the city and surroundings.
On the first day we drove out to the mountains. It can seems surprising but only an hour drive away from the very busy capital you can find villages and haven of peace and silence (and snow!). We had delicious Kabab (national food in Iran) and a minty soup (Ashe something)… all in all this was the perfect transition-day from Asia to the Orient.
On the next morning we headed to the Bazaar and to Moslem a local restaurant before we did embassy-seeing. We walked from the British embassy to the American and the German - all this hard labour got rewarded by a delicious burger. Astonishingly the burgers in Iran are THE BEST.
In the next couple of days we visited the National Museum of Iran, Bazaar, the Iran Ebrat Museum, the National Jewels Museum and the Golestan Palace.
The latter is a huge building complex, beautifully decorated and so peaceful in comparison with the very busy streets surrounding it.
